LAUTECH : TALK OF THE WEEK
Dearest colleagues, how are you ? And hope this meet you in good health ? We say; Happy resumption of academic activities to you all. It is our prayer that you graduate with flying colors. Ameen !
Having acquiesced on certain issues, especially the one that affects the generality of students, it is pertinent to reflect and express on the practice of corruption which has become a norm and virtually left the SUG in bastardization. A good observer will bear witness that the Union is shrouded in opaqueness and absolute lack of transparency. It could not be regarded as normal, good and decent practise that's suppose of a Progressive march because of the poor foundation the union is established upon. Alas, the need for total re- structuring must be central to any decision before its reinstatement.
But before i go further on that, i'd like to discuss on the following which are top on discussion today at students' affairs;
1. Regularization
2. Security
3. ID Card
4. Indecent dressing
5. And reinstatement of the Union
REGULARIZATION :
The issue of regularization was seriously discussed today after series of complaints from scores amidst final year students who are planning for NYSC towards November mobilization. It should be note as well that some graduates are yet to be mobilized due to the regularization PALAVA. They became victims due to the school strike and the change of system by the JAMB chairman, in person of professor OLOYEDE, which now make students who have paid before to repay or start afresh by a sum of 10, 000 naira as regularization fees.
In the aftermath of the deliberation, it is finally agreethat students who are victims should write a letter of complaints directly to the ICT through the office of the DSA. So, the DSA may therefore act on it should incase anything could be done. But as for those who did not or are yet to make any payment has no choice than to pay the sum of 10,000 as regularization fees.
So we are advising students who are willing or eager to be mobilized for NYSC anytime soon to make the hay while the sun shine.
SECURITY :
It is good to know that management is working tirelessly on the issue of security. The meeting held today with some organs and security personnel is aimed to ensure students safety both on and off campus.
No doubt, the school management has often time turn up for every security activities ranging from bullying, robbery, landlord and agent drama, bike- high jacking, in collaboration with some students who have been able to emanate the spirit of selflessness in standing for defenseless students. And while we show appreciation on that, it is pertinent to urge students who are faced with difficulties or challenges to report to the office of the DSA pending the time the Union is reinstated.
ID CARD :
The issue of ID card was also discussed as a means of identifying students on campus. The use of ID card will not only instilled discipline but also reduce crime rate both on and off campus.
More So, the tag of the ID card will carry a different color to represent each faculty on campus and also deny those who are not
