– Solomon Dalung, the Minister of Sports said the government would seek
ways to immortalize the late coach
Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s vice president, said the news of the sudden
death of Stephen Keshi saddened the nation.
Keshi, a former captain and coach of the Super Eagles, died on
Wednesday, June 8, after he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The vice president said his great work with the youths and senior
national teams unified the country and brought joy to many compatriots.
Paying tribute to the late Keshi, Osinabjo said: “His personal triumphs
and pursuits as a world-class professional footballer inspired many
young talented sportsmen and women around Africa to strive for
excellence.

“His feats within and outside the country, are a rich legacy, which will
continue to live on in our hearts.”
He sympathized with the family of Keshi on the tragic loss, praying that
God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss.
